Coins: Art of Their Time
Whereas Azerbaijan’s historic coins reflect the civilizations as they shifted across the centuries, modern Azerbaijani coins feature images from Azerbaijani’s rich cultural heritage. They depict musical instruments, oil rigs, and the ancient Maiden Tower monument in Baku, and also educational advances, economic development, and modern cultural achievements. Azerbaijan’s history comes alive in the evolution of the country’s coin designs.
The 1 manat bill references Azerbaijani culture, the 5 depicts writing and literature, the 10 depicts history, the 20 depicts the region of Karabakh, the 50 points to the future, and the 100 manat portrays the economy and development of Azerbaijan
