Achaemenid Persian Empire

During several eras of history, Azerbaijan has been directly or indirectly influenced by Persian empires. First invaded in the 6th century B.C.E. by the part-Median, part-Persian Cyrus the Great, a member of the Achaemenid dynasty, Azerbaijan (which was part of the Median [Medes] Empire) accepted many elements of Persian culture.
