Transcausasian Socialist Federative Soviet Republic

In 1922 the leaders of the Azerbaijan Soviet Socialist Republic (SSR), along with the Georgian SSR and Armenian SSR, formed the Transcaucasian Socialist Federative Soviet Republic (TSFSR), a regional republic subordinate to central Soviet government. This arrangement lasted until 1936, when the government of the Soviet Union signed a new Constitution, reorganizing its administration. The three nations became individual Soviet Socialist Republics once more.
