Regional Specialties
Every region in Azerbaijan has a culinary specialty. Azerbaijan’s capital Baku, and the greater Absheron Peninsula of which it is a part, are known for their dishes made of dough. The northwestern city Sheki is famous for its unique Azerbaijani pakhlava (baklava) , and the south is known for stuffed foods. The rice pilaf and kebabs of the Karabakh region are eaten and loved throughout the country..
