Chay(Tea) in Azerbaijan

Women cultivating tea in AzerbaijanTea is second only to water as a beverage in Azerbaijan and plays a critical role in Azerbaijani social life. Chay may be served any time of day or night and is often accompanied by jam or other sweets. Although Azerbaijan today imports most of its tea from India and China, it also still produces small quantities of tea in its Lankaran region, once a Silk Road nexus.
